An important part of the project was to ensure that the process of manufacturing the shoe was simple and easy to understand. The video demonstrates a step-by-step tutorial of developing the shoe, and the materials required for the process.
Challenges and Next Steps
One of the initial challenges of the project was to create a shoe using limited resources. The tribes in Marsabit have limited access to many materials common to Western society. To overcome this issue, we decided to design our shoe and the manufacturing process around the materials which were readily available, namely, fabric, cardboard and natural fibers.
